World Earth Day 2024!

World Earth Day 2024! April has been a busy month for Northstone Materials. 

As we celebrate Earth Day on 22nd April, it is always worth reflecting on how far we have come and what we have planned to become a more sustainable and environmentally conscious organisation.

Our sustainability strategy will address packaged products from our Roof Tile Plant facility over the next three years.
Our key targets:
   1. Innovate tile properties
   2. Reduce carbon emissions
   3. Reduce plastic packaging

We started our Tile Plant sustainability strategy in 2023 by installing 505 solar PV panels. This generates enough electricity to power over 50 homes. That’s not all; we’ve been working with suppliers to increase recycled content in our tile packaging.

The momentum hasn’t stopped there! Armin Jamali, Associate Concrete Specialist, joined the Northstone team through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Queen’s University Belfast.

Armin will help us deliver our strategy by developing low-carbon lite roof tiles, innovating tile properties, and working towards reduced overall packaging usage! We at Northstone are aligning our products and services with a sustainable economy to make every day Earth Day.
