Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA)
HRA is a hot mixture of penetration grade bitumen, limestone filler, fine and coarse aggregates. HRA is present in base, binder and surface courses. When laid as a surface course, we add pre-coated chips to provide texture.
This material is used in the motorway and major trunk road networks in the UK and Ireland as the surface course. A highly versatile material, suitable for use in footways, drives and parking areas. This product is appropriate for machine and hand-laying.
A gap graded material that uses sand as the fine aggregate and high addition rates of stiff 40/60 pen bitumen combine to make a material characterised by its:
- High durability
- Resistance to permanent deformation
- Weather resistance
- Skid resistance (varies with pre-coated chip PSV)
We manufacture the product using conventional asphalt production methods at the following locations:
- Ballintra
- Ballymena
- Croaghan
- Mallusk
- Mountfield
- North Down
All products produced and supplied to relevant quality standard BS EN 13108-4 and laid to BS 594987 2015.
