St. Oliver Plunkett Primary School Visit
On Tuesday, 10th June, Year 5 students from St. Oliver Plunkett Primary School visited our sand site.
Matthew Greer welcomed them and provided safety clothing before the children gathered around a tipper truck. Transport Manager Nigel Galbraith demonstrated blind spots, highlighting the limited visibility for drivers. Mrs. Simmington, their teacher, was surprised by how many children were out of sight, leading to Northstone being invited to conduct a road safety session for the school.
The children watched Mark O'Hagan expertly operate the loading shovel and observed the sand being processed. They also enjoyed watching Jeff Milligan handle the lough boat and learned about local wildlife and geology. A highlight for the pupils was playing in the sand and after receiving goodie bags and cleaning their boots, they returned to school.
A huge thanks to Matthew for organising and to St. Oliver Plunkett Primary for participating.
We look forward to continuing our partnership in educating the children about the sand industry and nature.
