P6 St Mary's Primary School Tour
On Tuesday, 23rd April, we were delighted to welcome the P6 children from St Mary's Primary School to our ongoing Public Realm Scheme in the town of Portaferry.
A total of 26 enthusiastic children, plus their teacher and classroom assistant, arrived onsite at 9:30 a.m. They were hosted in the Market Square Community Hall, where they listened attentively to several presentations and asked many interesting questions, to which there were many interesting answers.
As this session drew to a close the children were kitted out in Northstone PPE for their on-site visit. Whilst on-site they participated in STEM activities and had the opportunity to each lay an individual cobble in the pavement of the square. This will serve as a lovely reminder in years to come.
Afterwards they returned inside to eat their pack lunches, receive their goodie bags and head off on their ten minute walk back to school.
The principal of St Mary's P.S., Mr Paul Gilchrist, commented, 'I can confirm that our P6 pupils really enjoyed their experience. When they returned to school and I asked them about their day, they were full of many interesting facts and explained the different experiments and investigations they were involved in. I also believe that Northstone has set a new fashion trend, with many of them keeping on their safety glasses throughout the day.'
A big shoutout to the Northstone team who organised and faciltated the visit. Gareth McGreevy, Rebecca Mitchell, Stephen McDougall, Owen Roberts, Callum Carty, Eoghan O'Neill, Joel Lyness subcontractor from Kiln View Landscape & Paving, Tuesday Pollock and Miranda Mitchell.
