International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day (IWD) was first honoured in 1911. Since then, IWD has become a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural and political achievements.
At NSM, IAL & Mattest, we are committed to creating workplaces where everyone is valued, respected and treated fairly and feels a genuine sense of belonging. As Our Developing People details, we value every person's contribution to our business.
In recent years, IWD has been used to inspire a call to action for accelerating gender equality. IWD isn’t country, gender, group or organisation-specific. It belongs to everyone everywhere.
This year, IWD is on Friday, 8 March, with the theme for 2024 of #InspireInclusion, focusing on inspiring others to understand and value women's inclusion. To truly include women means openly embracing their diversity – including race, age, ability, faith, body image and how they identify. Key actions include:
- When women aren't present, ask, "If not, why not?"
- When women are discriminated against, let’s call out poor practice
- When the treatment of women is not equitable, we need to take action
- And we need to do this each time, every time, to ensure we #InspireInclusion
