Happy International Biodiversity Day from Northstone Materials!
Today and every day at Northstone, we celebrate and take pride in the wide range of species and habitats our quarries, sand & gravel pits and, other locations support. 
Over the years, we have recorded over 600 species of flora and fauna that have taken refuge in our locations for food, shelter, and breeding. How lucky are we as a company to have so many different habitats supporting different species from tiny pollinating critters to amphibians and dragonflies, keeping the water environment healthy, to the fastest flying bird in the sky reaching speeds of up to 20MPH. 
Some of the species we have found on our sites are pictured below including:
- Narrow-bordered Five-Spot Burnet Zygaena Lonicerae
- Shiel Bug
- Female Orange Tip Butterfly
- Young Smooth Newt
- Male Common Darter
- Tree Sparrow
