Farewell to Ainsley Stewart
Ainsley Stewart retired from the business on the 7th of April, 2023.
His 44-year journey started in Ready Use Concrete on the 13th of February, 1979 - a commendable and fabulous achievement.
In his early days, the maintenance team covered everything including plant maintenance, trucks, and mobile plant.
Until the late 1980s, Ainsley and his co-fitters serviced cars, even undertaking repairs to the Ready Use employees' private vehicles!
Ainsley’s knowledge of concrete plants, block-making equipment and everything mechanical has been invaluable to our business over the years and he has shared this knowledge with his fellow maintenance team.
Any breakdown or problems at the site, Ainsley got a call, and there was confidence that he would sort the problem or have a solution to get the equipment operational as quickly as possible.
Brian Watt commented on Ainsley's humorous side. Brian said, "I recall the day I got a call that a maintenance van drove into a field outside Kilrea. The accident was serious but the events after the accident involved the resident bull taking a liking to the fitter who was in a red flameproof boilersuit (in those days) and the fitter in question had to run. Discussing the accident with Ainsley I saw his eyes light up, a smile fell on his face and in his deadpan manner he said, “I did not know there was a new bypass in Kilrea."
We all wish Ainsley and his wife a long and happy retirement. He plans to spend time on the farm and go to Australia to see his family.
Congratulations Ainsley!
