Congratulations to Eamon, Philip, William and Sean
Special celebrations were held in Toome to mark an outstanding 120 years service. Both William Wylie (1st June) & Philip Weir (8th June) achieved an impressive 45 years service and Eamon Quinn achieved 30 years on the (5th of June)!
Whilst these are undoubtedly impressive, recognition was also given to Sean Kearney who hit a massive 52 years on the 25th of May (still looking as fresh as a daisy.
Eamon Quinn – Quality Controller – 30 years service
Started his journey in 1993 as a Quality Controller working under Bob Smyth just as Scotts acquired the kitemark for the concrete roof tiles. He also worked for a time with Mattest during the late 2000's before transferring back to NSM.
Eamon is responsible for maintaining the high quality in the tile plant and has the role of educating new team members on the levels of quality expected.
Philip Weir – Production Manager – 45 years service
Philip started as a diesel fitter reporting to Barry Balmer. At 23 Philip was asked to be a Fitter at the Tile Plant and was shortly promoted to Tile Plant Supervisor reporting to Jackie O’Kane before eventually being appointed Production Manager.
Philip has also been involved in the removal and reinstallation of Tile Plants throughout his career. When asked Philip said although like everyone there were challenges throughout his career he would do it all over again if given the chance!
William Wylie – Fitter – 45 years service
William started with the company as an Apprentice Welder. His skills were duly noted and he was asked to help with the old Tile Plant maintenance. William has been a great asset to the business and has built a wealth of knowledge which has contributed to keeping the old and new plants operational over the years. William would never see anyone stuck and would always be more than willing to help keep the plant going - even on his days off!
William joked that he 'remembers plenty of days off while at school but has had very few during his career within Northstone'!
Congratulations to Eamon, Philip, William and Sean for their dedication and service to NSM.
