50 Year milestone for Trevor Anderson
Trevor Anderson started his career with JT Glovers in 1972 on a 6-week contract as a “nipper” making tea for lorry drivers; two big kettles were always on the boil.
He was based at Springwell Gravel Pit in Coleraine, supplying material for the “New Bridge” (Sandelford). He occasionally accompanied the drivers and gets signed one or two dockets.
After this contract finished, he transferred over to a blacktop crew as a labourer for Paddy O’Neill, and he then progressed on to driving the paver. Pavers at that stage were all fixed screeds and had to be manually built out, but as this was a dirty job, he was provided with a new dark blue boiler suit and gloves. He has passed his love of gloves onto his squad.
Ronnie McIntyre and Art McNally recognised his leadership skills and persuaded him into the role of foreman, which he has been in now for 33 years.
He was based in Moneymore initially but was moved to North Down after it closed and then to Coleraine, where his squad is currently based.
Trevor recently became a grandfather for the first time. He has promised to discuss his love of ornithology (especially the Grey Goose) and the benefits of using RAP with his new grandson
Congratulations, Trevor, from all at Northstone!
