2024 World Wildlife Day at Northstone Materials

It's World Wildlife Day, and at Northstone, we know a #worldwithoutnature has huge consequences for our environment and local economy. As our Environmental Officer (Rebecca Mitchell) reminds us, "Without a healthy environment, there's no pollination for crops, and a poor crop harvest means no avocado on toast!" 

As landowners, we love to see solitary bees, smooth newts, birds and many more species at our sites. We want to protect and promote the wildlife at all our locations. 

Since 2021, we've planted native trees, created ponds, installed beehives and promoted work site regeneration as part of our Biodiversity Action Plan.

Our STEM outreach programme has enabled #ConnectingPeopleAndPlanet by educating local schools on how quarries are a haven for wildlife, boasting unique habitats.
