Brian Peden Reaches His 40 Year Milestone
Brian joined RJ Maxwell & Sons Limited from S&W Hartin 40 years ago as a young 18-year-old.
He started in the surfacing squads, helping with traffic management (Stop/Go). His Father was a General Forman & his uncle Sam was a contracts manager. He was moved into a civils squad along with Natty Shaw, brothers Paddy & Seamus Welsh, Jimmy Stewart, Sam Palmer & Sammy Welsh (Unrelated to the brothers) working on the Belfast Road Carrickfergus installing drainage and doing earthworks.
Six years later, he took charge of his own small civils prep squad, raising ironwork and prepping in front of the surfacing squads.
In 1990 he joined the Special Products team as an engineer looking after the road milling/planing, road lining, slurry sealing, anti-skid and synthetic sports pitches/tennis courts.

In 1996 Brian joined the contracts team at North Down, looking after watermain laying and then managing the Belfast measured term works, taking on the surfacing Contracts Manager role in NDQ, then adding the Ballymena area (Eastern Surfacing CM).
In September 2021, he was appointed Asphalt Production Manager. His role includes looking after the CRH KPIs and driving efficiencies at all the plants.
Whenever he gets the opportunity, Brian enjoys walking and following Ulster rugby. Congratulations Brian from all at Northstone.
